This view is from the Southeast. The cigar factory where Cecelia worked is the long multi-windowed building in the center of the photograph. The Catholic church that the family attended is long white-roofed structure on the right edge of the picture. The bare earth on the distant hills is the result of anthracite coal strip mining operations as well as refuse from deep mine operations. The family home is not represented, it is off the photo on the immediate right. This picture is probably from the late 1920's to early 30's. |
