Through World War II cars were not being manufactured so this car had to suffice as the family car until 1946. Strangely, the hole in the back floor which provided an alarming view of the spinning drive shaft, is nostalgicly remembered. This view is from the back of the home looking East down Sixth street. Because gas was rationed during World War II there were no long trips. There were many neighborhood grocery stores in town but the Hook store was a bit unique in that all kinds of meats were sold. Also, customers from throughout the community could make telephone calls to the store with their "orders", which were then delivered in this Plymouth. |
