As a Fire Boss in a mine Anthony was responsible for assuring that conditions in an area to be worked were deemed to be safe before miners could begin work . A significant responsibility. In this case the runaway mine car that caused the accident could not be forseen.
It seems that Anthony, a Mount Carmel borough councilman, was experiencing a dispute with other council members and resorted to not attending meetings as a form of protest. His opposition responded by kicking him off the council. No other information can be found regarding this incident.

The 1940 Census shows Anthony living at 337 West 4th Streetin Mount Carmel. He and Helen lived the rest of their lives there. They had two children, Thomas and Leona. Thomas with a doctorate in Physiology worked at the National Institute of Health. Leona, a registered nurse, worked in the Philadelphia, PA area.
Anthony's death on August 30, 1975 was an unexpected shock.
