The Zushin family, in 1920, were living in Sagon, Pennsylvania, a tiny place of about two dozen homes and about 10 miles West of Mount Carmel

George is 13 in a family of 5 boys and 1 girl.

George's parents immigrated from Hungary.

George's father and two oldest brithers have coal mine jobs.

Anna and George get their marriage license on June 30th, 1925. As often happens, today and then, the news media has an accuracy deficiency.

In 1940 the Zushins are living in Mount Carmel at 325 South Market Street.

They have two sons, George Jr 7 and Gerald 4.

Both sons were born deaf.

Anna and George are now living in Mount Carmel at 445 East 7th Street. George has a col mine job.

Their two sons are not listed. Anna and George decided to send their sons to a Philadelphia School for the Deaf. Consequently their sons only spent time with them during summer breaks. It was a financial and psychological sacrifice but it prepared the boys to live independently when they reached adulthood.
